A part of the Rajaji National Park, Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is situated amid thick forested areas at a distance of about 15 kms from the Library Point in Mussoorie. Developed as a bird-watching heaven for the sake of tourists, it offers magnificent views of the snow-capped Chaukhamba and Bandar Punch peaks. Some of the popular Benog Wildlife Sanctuary bird sightings include the Red Billed Blue Magpie and the exotic White Capped Water Redstart. Featuring an abundance of herbivores and carnivores as well, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary fauna includes the Himalayan goat , panther, leopards, deer and the Himalayan bear. The floral landscape generally comprises of fir and pine trees although the area is rich in medicinal plants. Day long treks to Benog Wildlife Sanctuary from Mussoorie are extremely exciting and popular with the tourists.
